Calculator

Translate your advisor fee from a percentage into a real number.

A 1% fee sounds small until the account balance gets large. This calculator helps you see the dollar amount clearly.

After you see the number, take the quiz. The question is not only what you pay. It is what your advisor is actually doing for it.

How the advisor-fee calculation works

The calculator multiplies the assets billed by the stated annual fee percentage. For example, a $2 million managed portfolio at 0.75% produces an estimated $15,000 annual advisory fee. That estimate may not include underlying fund expenses, trading costs, platform charges, planning retainers, or fees on assets held elsewhere.

What to compare with the dollar cost

Important limitations

This is a first-year illustration, not a judgment about value. Advisory schedules may use tiers, breakpoints, minimums, or different billing methods. Confirm the actual fee in the advisory agreement and account statements, then ask which services are included and which professionals receive compensation.

For a longer-horizon illustration, use the AUM fee calculator. To compare the relationship more broadly, read what financial advice should cost and include.
